Understanding the Tools

Important: These are simplified models

The seat calculator and swing calculator use uniform national swing (UNS) — a simplified model that applies the same swing equally across all 650 constituencies. Real elections are far more complex: local factors, tactical voting, incumbency effects, and regional variation all play a role. For more sophisticated projections, see MRP polling from YouGov and Electoral Calculus.
